~Chapter 1: Decisions, Decisions~
Tears streamed down her cheek. Her eyes were red from crying. In the still of the silence, she stared into the darkening sky. The orange hue started to fade as the stars appeared and the moon rose from the horizon. She closed her eyes and remembered when it all begun.
"But uncle…I would not do it! I object!" 16 year old Yuki protested.
"The choice is not mine to make either," Chief Arnook, Yuki's uncle, sighed. "Do it for the peace of the Northern Water Tribe, for your people."
Yuki, feeling very unhappy, turned away and ran towards the Oasis. Ever since Yue died, the entire Northern Water Tribe's burden rested on her shoulders. This was not her choice but a duty she must fulfill. A drop of tear fell into the water as Yuki stared at Tui and La.
"Yue, just kill me…" Yuki mumbled sadly. "I cannot do this."
Just then the clouds parted and the moonlight shone on Yuki's face giving her a sense of assurance that everything would be alright. She stood up and walked boldly into the throne room. The chief was negotiating with the Fire Nation General.
"For the sake of the country and the people." Yuki reminded herself. With a sigh, Yuki announced her decision. The Fire Nation General and Chief Arnook looked up. Both of their eyes were filled with shock.
The Fire Nation General strode towards Yuki and knelt down. Taking her hand and kissing it. When he got to his feet, he told Yuki to be prepared as they would leave three days later. Chief Arnook gave Yuki a warm smile and hugged her.
"What have I done?" Yuki asked herself grasping her locket.
