Blood
Wind. It was a cold wind, the kind that puts a chill in your bones. She felt it now as her auburn hair blew around her. Her sparkling sapphire eyes stared around at the empty fog filled field, feeling her sister's tiny hand grip hers even tighter. She turned.
Her sisters' aqua eyes were wide, utterly terrified and she clung to her like a little child. The redhead stroked her golden-blonde hair comfortingly. The sooner they escaped this void the better for even the redhead knew something was wrong.
The blonde tugged at her sisters' arm, letting out a whimper. The redhead nodded and they quickened their pace.
There seemed to be no end for them as the fog thickened every time they quickened their steps.
Fear flooded through them they could see nothing in the mist and were severally taken aback when they found themselves at the top an uneven rocky hill. The redhead stopped short in surprise feeling the blonde's hand slip from her grip as she tumbled down the rock-strewn ridge.
"No!" The redhead shouted, darting down after her, stumbling all the way.
The blonde lay there motionless at the bottom. As she lifted her sister in her arms the redhead found that her golden-blonde hair was now streaked with crimson.
"Sis…" The redhead whispered, "I'm sorry…"
The blonde shook her head, blood dripping from her locks and collecting on the ground as well as on her sisters' hands. "Leave me…" She chocked. "Save yourself."
"From what?" The redhead asked.
"Death…" The blonde answered, simply.
Now it was the redhead's turn to shake her head. "No." She said, "I don't care. I'll face my death. I won't leave you."
The blonde smiled. "Thank you…sis." She whispered, before her eyes closed.
The redhead rested her head on her sisters' chest, tears streaming down her cheeks. A few moments later, however, the redhead's breath caught as an invisible force stifled her breathing. She fell against her sister, chilled, just like she was, an empty shell. As both their spirits left that fog filled field, the redhead woke from her nightmare with a start. She woke to find that she and her sister were safe and sound.
Just a dream…a nightmare. She thought. A moment later, pure terror gripped her as discovered, with horror, the blood on her hands. Blood! What have I done…?
The End
