The stars covered the dark sky, spreading out on Yue's orders. It was just past 10:00. The moon shone out it's heavenly light, covering over the land. It was beautiful.

"Okay, Katara. One more time," she said to herself. Katara positioned herself into a dancing form. As she moved, she stumbled and hesitated.

"And step… Aah!" Katara yelped. She fell over, face first. "I can't take it anymore!" She kicked a stone out of her way. It landed right in front of someone. She continued mumbling to herself as she sat down on the floor. "Stinkin' dance…"

"Hey, Katara. What's up?" Aang said, sitting down next to her. He saw the obvious upset tone on Katara's face.

"Well, tomorrow is the festival, and Zuko invited me to go with him. But I don't know how to dance!"

With Zuko?"Oh. I'm sorry, Katara." I'm too late!

"It's not your fault. I'm just a lousy dancer. I always will be."

"Well… how about I teach you?" Aang jumped up.

Really! Wait, you know how to dance?"

"Hey, Toph doesn't call me Twinkle Toes for nothing!" Aang teased. He stretched out a hand to Katara. After mulling it over, she accepted.
As he pulled her up, he thought, Aang, she's taken. Don't do this! But I love her…

"Okay, first things first. Keep your position correct." He wrapped his arm around her waist, patting her back to keep it straight. Then, he put his other hand in hers. "That's it! For now, just put your feet on top of mine."

Katara then stepped on top of Aang's feet. "Like that?"

"Perfect," he said, smiling. "Now, when your dancing, the guy leads. And always look at the guys face, not your feet." Katara looked up at the boy's face.

"Now, just relax," Aang said. He began to move.

Sliding to the right, then left, forward, then backward. His feet always met before moving again, then gracefully moved in a different direction. He moved swiftly, always maintaining his balance. He finally stopped.

"Now, just stay in front of me. Let's try it again, okay?" he asked.

"Okay," Katara said, breathing out. Slowly, they began to move. She started out rough at first. Once, she fell into Aang's arms; but they continued. Finally, Katara memorized the pattern. After she did, she was pleased with herself. "I did it!"

Great job, Katara! Now," Aang said, bowing, "May I have this dance?"

Katara blushed a bit. "Of course."

After mimicking each others position, they began to dance.

Turn after turn, spin after spin, each move was mirrored perfectly by the other. They were circling each other in an eternal dance. Graceful steps by Katara were copied by swift movements of Aangs'.

Aang extended his left arm, then pulled it back in again. Katara was around his arms, swaying back and forth. She turned around, facing him again. She knew exactly what to do, as if she were a professional.

As they finished, Aang spun her around and let her head bow. He lifted her up.

"Thank you Aang!" she said, giving him a hug. "Now I'll do great with Zuko!"

Oh, ya…"That's… great." He forced a smile for Katara. She swiftly walked away. Aang sat there, disappointed. He pulled out the single panda-lily in his robe, looked at it one last time, and dropped it on the floor; followed by a teardrop.

Back at the camp, Katara caught up with Sokka. "Hey!" he said. "Where have you been?"

"Aang taught me how to dance," she said. "He held me in his arms, and held on to me. He even asked for a dance. I thought I'd always be a lousy dancer!"

"Wait," Sokka said, confused. "I thought you were always a great dancer! Gran-Gran taught you when you were-" Katara ran over to him and put her hand over his mouth.

"Would you hush up! I don't want Aang to know!"
