A/N: I was sobbing so hard during that last goodbye scene in "Doomsday." I wrote this immediately after because the feelings I had were so strong. I loved Rose as his companion!

He Never Got To Tell Her

"I love you." She sobbed, and he could hear the finality in her voice.

"Then I suppose, if it's my last chance to say it…" He could feel that the breach was about to close permanently in a matter of seconds. He didn't want to sound rushed, but he knew that he had to let her know. "Rose Tyler-"

The breach closed.

He could almost hear the echoes of her sobs as they were separated for all eternity. He himself could feel tears streaming down his cheeks and he was powerless to stop them. His two hearts screamed with agony at the loss of his Rose, and could hear the TARDIS singing its own mourning song for their lost companion. He knew that he must move on, but by the gods of Gallifrey, why did moving on have to be so hard?

Because by moving on, he'd have to accept that there were things that he would never get to tell her. He never got to tell her that she was the best companion he'd ever had; never got to tell her that he believed in her more than any of his previous companions. There were many things that he never got to tell her, and now would never get to tell her. But the one thing her regretted most of all…

He never told her that he loved her.
