Juliette and her brother, Oliver, jumped as another crash of thunder sounded. The four-year-old girl hugged the blanket around her and her two-year-old brother.
"Want mama and papa." Olivier whispered.
"Otay. Wet's go," Juliette whispered while sliding out of bed and helping her brother off.
The siblings tiptoed through the little cottage and found their parents' bedroom door. Nostradamus and Olivia were asleep with their arms wrapped around each other. Grabbing her brother's hand, Juliette tiptoed to the bed and began lightly shaking her father's shoulder.
"Papa," she whispered. "Papa, wake up."
"Five more minutes, princess."
"It's nighttime, papa. Olivier and Julie wanna sweep wif mama and papa."
Nostradamus turned and rubbed his eyes. "Are you two scared?"
The children nodded and their father lifted them into the bed, which caused his wife to stir and wake up.
"What's going on?" Olivia asked sleepily.
"Our children got scared because of the storm," Nostradamus replied while Juliette snuggled into his chest.
"Oh is that so?" she said and hugged her son.
"Yes, mama." Olivier replied.
"Do you know the story of thunder, little ones?"
"No, mama."
"Well, let me tell you. You know who lives in heaven right?"
"Yes, mama. God and His angels," Juliette said, even though it was muffled by her papa's arm.
"That's right, sweetheart. Do you know what rain is? It is God giving water to all the plants so they can live."
"Weally?" Olivier asked.
"Yes, baby boy."
"What 'bout big boom?"
"Those are the angels playing music."
"It so loud, mama." Juliette said.
"Because they want to share their music with people on Earth." Nostradamus jumped in to help his wife.
"Ohhhh." the children said together.
"Does that make you feel better?" their mother asked.
"Yes, mama." Olivier said. "Still wanna sweep here."
Olivia laughed. "Okay, you can sleep here my loves."
"Yay!"
The family all slept in the little bed. Although the parents got little sleep, they were perfectly content with their wonderful children in the bed with them.
