Alright, this is not actually my idea, this is my brother's. However, he doesn't have an account so it's getting posted on mine. Now, I'm doing this as a challenge because if I tried to write a lord of the rings/hobbit story then I would horribly mangle it, seriously. I tried, once. It got deleted in the drafting stage. *shudders* If you accept the challenge then make sure to either review or shoot me a pm. I want to be able to read it. Now, reading the list, you'll notice that there is no have to do's for this story. I have encouragements but in the end, it is the writer's choice to do things. The only things that are forbidden are on the list. And honestly, if you need to have the options weak Sauron/Smaug under forbidden, then you really should check your temperature. I mean, what kind of bad guys are weak enough to easily be killed off? I'd like a list, if you can think of it.
Challenge: What if Smaug never died?
Forbidden:
Good Smaug-portrayed as a greedy dragon who loves gems, how likely is it that it turns good? Very unlikely.
All of company getting out of mountain alive- Let's see…dragon after their butts and in an enclosed mountain space…and someone thinks they're all getting out alive? Do you need to see a doctor? Do you feel alright? Seriously.
Allowed, even encouraged:
Smaug and Sauron join forces- two evil groups joining together to get rid of pesky people, nothing can go wrong with that.
Death of some of the dwarves- they walk into a mountain and have a very irritated dragon after them. Getting out unscathed/alive=very unlikely.
Sauron taking over most of the lands- He's an evil dude who now has a flying dragon with him. He's not just going to sit around and let the humans, elves and dwarves live in happiness.
Pockets of fighters for good- Nothing like a little rebellion over the years to make the world good again…in a couple hundred years perhaps.
Grey area for story plot:
Destruction of Shire-it's an area that is peaceful and has mostly hobbits that stay out of things, however men may gather there to rally themselves. Destruction would be safer but it's all up to the writer.
Betrayal- What story is without a bit of betrayal?
Well, that's your list. I look forward to reading the blooming stories. 'Til next time. SF
