Kindness

The arguments are mostly pointless. They tear each other to pieces. Then, many hours later, they build each other back up. It's an almost constant battle of wills. It seems that every two days they find something to bicker over; something to kill each other internally for.

They don't kill with knives or guns. Their weapons are words. The deadly precision of words is an art. They wait until exactly the right moment to say things that will hurt each other with the greatest effect. It kills them as much as it pleases them. They dance around danger, knowing what to say and what not to say. Some things should never be mentioned and they never do.

Their love, to most, is twisted and poisonous. To Shirō it's normality, security and comfort. If there are two days in a row that they don't argue he'll have them taken to a mental institution. He once threatened them out loud at the dinner table and received a round of laughter in response.

Though he is quite glad when there comes a peaceful day. His parents become inescapable. They crowd around him and fuss over him without competing for his affections. They're also in one another's arms for the duration of the day.

Shirō is happy. Even when they argue there's a special light in their eyes. That light is only for each other. They love each other. They always have and it seems that they always will. As many times as they tear each other down they can't help but make hint after hint that there cannot be only one of them.

Then, when the tempest has ended they leave together. Shirō doesn't mind being left behind. His grandfather and his secretary always come to amuse him. That, he knows, is when they settle their old disputes. They go to restaurants and buy ties, perfumes and other silly trinkets for each other.

That, he insists to his disbelieving friends and their parents, is true love because they're always at kind to each other; always merciful even when striking that final blow.

Of course, none of them believe him. None of them have ever seen his parents on one of their dates.

Author's Note: What the-? This was done in about 23 minutes. Really? I've been missing my daily deadlines for the past half a month and I've done two stories with hours to spare? Wow, what a strange thing that is... Anyway, I hope that you've enjoyed my little piece. I'm sorry if I disappointed you. Thank you for reading. I promise that I'll improve for next time.
