Disclaimer: You know the drill
Regulus, Orion, Andromeda, Cygnus, Bellatrix. Most Blacks were named after stars and constellations.
Rabastan never understood Bellatrix's fascination with the rain and the clouded night sky. That's why, when he passes by her room and sees her sitting on the windowsill, watching the pouring rain, he barks at her to go to bed. It is, after all, half past midnight.
She does not spare him a second glance, though it is at that moment that she makes her choice.
"You will marry either Rabastan or Rodolphus," Cygnus Black says. "You are lucky we're giving you a choice, young lady. It is not your place to question us."
Beside him, Druella nods. "Even if you do not love either of them, you will learn to. Most pureblood mariages are agreed upon by the parents. Be grateful we are taking your opinion into consideration before making our decision."
It is not much of a choice. Rabastan and Rodolphus are alike in most aspects. They look exactly the same, even if two years separate them. Perhaps it is that resemblance that makes it such a hard decision.
Rodolphus walks past her bedroom and creeps to her side. He sits silently and together, they listen to the sound of falling water.
"I know why you love the covered sky so much," he says after a while. "You can't see the stars. You can't see Regulus, who is going to join us; you can't see Sirius, who left before he had to; you can't see Andromeda, who married the man she loved; you can't see your father and Orion, pressuring you into making the right decision."
It takes a few minutes before she smiles.
"Mother, Father," she says the next day, "I have made my choice. I will marry Rodolphus."
She genuinely hopes she learns to love him through the years.
