Ok, This is a new story I've decided to start writing. I'm not abandoning my other story; this is just a way to do a little something different with my creative juices. Also, I think I might like a co writer for this project or at least someone to hell me with ideas and such along the way. If you are interested please email me: jt_maverick_fan@classicnet.net or aim: James a mavs fan. Come to think of it, feel free to contact me for any reason as I never mind talking to people about any subject. I truly enjoy interacting with people. I also want to thank those of you who have stayed with my writing and given me feedback on it. There are some of you who have made a habit or reviewing every chapter I post and encouraging me to continue and for that I am truly grateful. Anyway, this story is something that I think a lot of people can relate to and will deal with some things in it that I dealt with as a youth. Ok, I'll stop my rambling now and start the story. Please tell me your opinions on this, Thanks.

All my love, James

Chapter 1 – It Begins (Please, please tell me if you like this.)

"Hey Lizzie what are you doing honey?" Jo McGuire asked her 14-year-old daughter. Lizzie was seated at the kitchen table and obviously had something on her mind.

"Just some homework. Has Gordo or Miranda called?" She inquired as she looked around like she was waiting for someone to come through the front door.

Jo looked around to see what Lizzie was looking at and then answered her daughter with, "No, Why is there something going on?"

"Its just that Miranda has called everyday since she got back from Mexico and ever since Gordo realized he has a crush on me he is almost always either calling me or over here, even more so than he used to." She stated, letting her mother know what was going through her head.

"Well, Miranda was gone for 4 months so she is probably just trying to make up for lost time, and Gordo, are your really complaining? I mean you have kissed him twice now. Seems to me the crush you speak of is mutual. I can tell you enjoy having him around all the time even more than you used to even if you two aren't officially dating yet." She preached in her usual 'yes I do know what's going on' mother tone.

"No Mom I'm not complaining about any of that. I like all of that. What's bothering me is that neither one of them has called or come over today. Which is weird cause of all that stuff you just said." She said with real concern in her voice.

"I'm sure they are just doing homework or something. Don't get stressed out over it Lizzie. I'm sure they call later." Jo remarked hoping to reassure her.

"I just have this weird feeling. Like something is really wrong or something. I just can't describe who or what." She stated honestly started to really express what was going on in her head.

Jo started to say something but before she could Gordo burst though the front door.

"No, no, this can't be happening!" He yelled frantically as he paced around the McGuire's living room. Lizzie quickly got up from the table and moved towards him when she saw his almost maniacal state. In all the years she had known him she had never seen him this angry and upset. She knew this had something to do with what she had been worried about earlier. She had to try to calm him down. Jo with the same idea on her mind followed Lizzie into the living room.

"Gordo! What's wrong?" Lizzie hurriedly inquired.

"This can't be happening!" He repeated as he continued to pace.

"What can't be happening sweetie?" Jo quickly tried growing increasingly concerned.

Gordo didn't answer he just shook his head, paced and quivered with anger and pain. Lizzie decided she had to do something and fast before her best friend went out of his head. She stepped in front of him, put her hands on his shoulders, and shook him. She looked into his eyes and made him pay attention to her.

"Hey! Hey! Look at me! Gordo I'm right here. I'm right here. Now you have to calm down. Please Gordo calm down. You are scaring me. Now take a deep breath, calm down and tell me what is going on." She pleaded with her best friend as she stared into his eyes so full of pain.

He looked at her. She could get through to him when no one else could. The look in her beautiful eyes and the realization of what his state was doing to here finally brought him back to reality.

"I walked in on my mom and dad fighting. They were really angry with each other." He started as calmly as he possibly could.

"David its not unusual for parents to fight. I'm sure they will work it out." Jo chimed in drawing from her past experience.

"I wish it was that simple. Apparently they have been having lots of problems here lately. I guess that's why they let me stay over here so much. My dad told my mom that he couldn't take it any more and he is leaving her." He continued trying really hard to hold back his anger.

"Oh my God Gordo, I'm so sorry" Lizzie said in complete shock.

"That's not the worst part. He also told her that he has found someone else. That he found someone who appreciates him. I can't believe who it is either." He voiced the anger really showing in his voice over the last piece of information.

"Who is it?" Jo asked before she could stop herself. Before he could answer, the front door flew open again. This time it was Miranda behind it. She was balling. She said nothing but walked up to Lizzie and threw herself into her. Lizzie held onto her but could do nothing else due to the complete state of shock she was in. Jo finally shook herself of the added shock and spoke.

"Miranda sweetie, what's wrong?" She asked hoping this was all a big coincidence and not the first that popped into her mind. Lizzie looked at her mother. Jo could tell the same thought at came into her mind as well. Miranda composed herself long enough to speak.

"My mom told my dad she wants a divorce." Miranda began clearly devastated.

"Why?!" Lizzie inquired, hoping it wasn't the reason that her had told her it was.

Before Miranda could answer Gordo confirmed what Jo and Lizzie were afraid of.

"Her mom wants a divorce so she can be with my dad!" He finished, officially filling in the last piece of the puzzle.
