Chapter 1: Platform 9 ¾.
The scarlet train puffed grey smoke through the air. It spread into every nook and cranny of platform 9 ¾. The place was filled with kids, some big, tall ones pulling luggage on the train, some smaller ones holding tightly to their mother's soft hands. But for these 9 kids this was the greatest day of their life because this was the day they first went to Hogwarts School for witchcraft and wizardry.
A little girl with long red hair stood worriedly in the middle of the platform.
"You'll be okay Roxy; your cousin from Scotland will be arriving soon,"
"But mom!"
"No buts. Bye." The girl's mother kissed her on the cheek, and then fled to join her husband. They apparated, leaving Roxy alone.
"I'm here!" called a voice. Through the smoke came Ruby, a small girl with her brunette hair in a plait down to her shoulders. She was also wearing a blue tartan mini-skirt.
"Hiya Ruby," said Roxy. She looked nervously down at her feet.
"Hi! I can't wait to tell you about my su-" THUD!!!
Ruby had not been looking where she was going and walked into another girl with blonde pigtails tied up with pink ribbons. She was already wearing her Hogwarts robes.
"Watch were you're going dimwit!" she squealed as she got up and dusted her robes.
"Sorry, my name's Ruby, and this is my cousin Roxy from California. I'm from Scotland."
Roxy put on a goodie-goodie-two-shoes look at the sound of her name.
"Nice to meet you. My name's Mimi Williams and I flew here from Boston."
She helped Ruby up. As they started to walk the train sent out a high pitched whistle that told the anxious first years that it was ready to make the journey it had made hundreds of times before. Everyone started to gather round the doors waiting eagerly to get on and start the journey of a lifetime.
