Author note: I don't own Fruits Basket. This is before Tohru lives with Shigure. Momiji is 12 and Hatori is 24.
Momiji had just gotten done with school. He headed back to the Sohma estate wondering what he should do. He sighed as he remembered how almost everyone in his class had to go home to help their families with chores. Momiji wished he had a family that would need him to help. He wanted rules, even though everyone else considered them a burden. His mother had her memory erased willingly and his father didn't visit often, due to the fact he worked often. He wondered how his mother was doing. He heard she was pregnant with a girl and was supposed to give birth soon. Momiji smiled knowing it wouldn't be born with the Zodiac Curse, since all the members were alive.
Momiji was still wondering what to do. As he walked through the gates, Momiji got the idea to visit Hatori and his girlfriend,Kana. Hatori was Momiji's favorite. Momiji would help with any cleaning and miscellaneous things that needed done. Hatori was the family doctor and was extremely busy. He was also a member of the Zodiac. He was the one in charge of erasing memories and was the one put in charge of Momiji. He walked in to Hatori working on paperwork, while Kana organized it. Kana looked up and smiled. Hatori glanced over to see who was there and started working again. Kana frowned at Hatori, getting up to nudge him. She tripped over air and fell on Hatori. Hatori transformed into a seahorse, thankfully it only lasted a minute. Kana, already knowing about the Curse apologized. "I'm sorry. I don't know what happened I just slipped." Hatori laughed about it and accepted her unnecessary apology. Momiji smiled, he thought they were a cute couple. Hatori looked over at Momiji, "Now that I'm taking a break, hello Momiji. Are you here for any particular reason?" Momiji smiled and shook his head, "Nope, just to visit and see if you need help with anything." Hatori and Kana both remembered the nightmare that occurred last time they let him help. It took forever to reorganize everything correctly. They both knew that he looked to them(Hatori) as his role models. Hatori answered, "Actually I do have an errand that you can help me with. Kana, can you finish the paperwork?" Kana looked just as surprised as Momiji felt. Kana nodded her head yes. Kana wondered what it was. She knew they had a good stash of supplies and meds. Momiji's surprise turned to excitement, especially when Hatori had him sit in the front seat of his car. After a few minutes of driving, they arrived at the hospital. Momiji assumed they were picking up supplies, but they went up to the level where women go after giving birth. In a nursery where you could see the newborns, there was one with the last name Sohma. Her name was Momo and she resembled Momiji's mother. Momiji smiled when he figured out that was his younger sister, and he hugged Hatori. The whole way back Momiji was thanking Hatori for the surprise. In the end there was no real errand and if it wasn't for that Momiji never would've been able to see Momo as a baby.
