Summary: Awkward silence between two hunters on a stakeout.
Notes: Ben's young adult PB is Penn Badgley and Jesse's is Norman Reedus.
Talking between the two was never easy, seeing as how Jesse was usually quiet and Ben just didn't know what to say. So it was awkward to be sitting in the car during the stake out for a case, the silence just plain deafening. Ben shifted a few times and cleared his throat to try and bridge things; Jesse picked at his nails and kept downcast eyes.
One of them was going to have to say something. Eventually.
Another cough from Ben and he finally took the initiative to say something while he continued to focus out the front windshield. "So, you read any good books lately?" It was the first thing he thought to ask seeing as how Jesse liked to read.
Jesse looked up at him from under his dark shaggy hair and said, "Yeah, actually… I just read this one called The Lightning Thief. It's kinda cool. About this boy who finds out he's the son of Poseidon."
A tiny smiled crossed his face and Ben was happy to see it, one appearing on his own face not even a moment later. "You know they made a movie based on that book, right?" He saw Jesse shake his head and added, "We should watch it." His attention went back to watching out the windshield as soon as it clicked in his mind that he basically asked the guy on a sort of date. Even if Jesse wouldn't fully grasp that concept.
"I'd like that," Jesse nodded, eyes going down again a moment before looking up.
In that moment, their target was exiting the building and starting to sneak around the back of the house and Ben said, "We'll watch it as soon as we finish this bitch up, huh?" A smirk and he was out of the car, completely okay with the idea of a movie date…thing with the other young man.
