"Clare Edwards is mine. She belongs to me and no one else. I love her and she loves me. We'll be together forever, right? She would never leave me…she promised."

Doubt quickly filled my mind when I thought of how distant she's been acting lately. She stopped texting and calling every day, she stopped coming over. She barely looked at me when we were together. I wondered what happened to those beautiful bright blue eyes I fell in love with. They were dull and lifeless now. I slid down to the floor with my back against the wall. I looked around my room; I haven't attempted to make any progress without Clare here to help me. I spotted a picture of Julia and quickly grew angry. I stood up and stormed across the room. I picked the picture up. "This is your fault!" I yelled at the picture. I threw it across the room and dropped down to the floor with tears running down my face. "Your fault..." I repeated softly. I stood up again and grabbed my keys. It was time for me and Clare to have a talk.

A short ten minutes later I was standing in Clare's driveway. I quickly composed myself and walked to her door. I was preparing to knock when the door flew open and a surprised Clare ran into me. "Eli!" she shouted obviously startled. "We need to talk Clare" I said with a sad look on my face. I sat down on the front step of the porch motioning for her to join me. She sat down and I put my arm over her shoulder. She shrugged it off. I looked down and began to speak "Clare…sometimes people…" I searched my mind for the right words "sometimes people drift apart. Their relationship becomes dull…boring"

"Eli" Clare interrupted "are you breaking up with me?"
