They sat on the steps of the destroied Hogwarts. Their home. Hermione was comforting Ron. He was skaing. Fred was gone, and no one was more devistated than George. Ron saw him pounding his fist into a wall as his family cleared out to check on everyone else. He hadn't let his side since he brought him into the Great Hall, which had become a lair for the dead and hurt. And to top that off, they couldn't find Harry.
"Ron, everyone will be fine. You know that." Hermione held his hand in hers. He was shaking.
"It's not Mum or Dad or Ginny I'm worried about. It's George. They were best friends."
"Everyone will be fine."
"And Harry! We can't find him! He wandered off. If he went into the forest-"
Hermione had turned around. "Why don't you ask him that?"
They stood to see a very sad and aprehensive looking Harry walking down the stairwell.
"We thought you headed to the forest."
"I'm going there now."
"Are you mad?"
"There's more to this than you think." Hermione asked what, but Harry said that she'd already known, most likley.
They watched as their best friend departed for the forest. He turned once and Ron saw tears fall from Harry's eyes.
Harry was brave.
They walked hand-in-hand to the Great Hall and sat on one of the benches that were conjoured up for everyone. Hermione had her head on his shoulder.
"I hope he'll be alright."
"We're talking about Harry Potter here. The Harry who was possesed by the git who want's him dead. The Harry that wants us to be safe more than him. He'll be fine." Ron looked away from Hermione as tears fell. He hoped everything he said about him being alright was true.
They heard a strange laughter. On que, everyone in the Great Hall walked into the now destroied, gravel thrown courtyard.
"Harry Potter...is dead!" Voldemort shouted "NO!" Ginny ran forward but was pulled back by their father. Ron held onto Hermione's hand, knowing that in seconds, she may collapse.
Ron looked carefully at Harry in Hagrid's arms. He saw something peculiar. Harry's eye opened and closed quickly.
"Uh, Hermione. I-I don't think Harry's dead."
"What do you mean, Ron?" But before he could answer, Harry fell out of Hagrid's arms, stood and cast a spell at Nigini. Gasps of relief, confusion and wonder flew around the bystanders.
They watched as Harry ran over gravel and rock, eventually making his way to them. They ran inside the castle watching as battles erupted. Harry said to kill the snake, do something, and then ran off. An hour later, Ron and Hermione found themselves cornered by Nagini, only to be killed by Neville. Harry defeated Voldemort a moment later. Now everyone was safe. The Wizarding World was safe.
