Prom queen.
Kurt fucking Hummel won prom queen, and he was his king.
It was both a nightmare and a dream come true.
But now, everyone was staring at him, wondering what he'd do.
Music was playing, and Kurt was looking at him, uncertainty in his eyes.
'He expects me to run...' Dave thought sadly. 'But what else is he supposed to think with how I've acted?'
Dave decided, then, that he wouldn't let Kurt down.
'Not again. I've done it too much already. If he's going to be brave about this, so will I.'
He reached out his hand to the smaller boy, his queen. Kurt smiled up at him brightly, and placed his hand in Dave's shaking one.
As they walked to the dance floor, whispers growing in number and volume, Kurt said quietly to him "I'm here for you, it's going to be okay."
Dave nodded, and brought the boy closer to him.
If he was gonna do it at all, what difference did it make? He might as well get the most out of these few moments in Kurt's arms.
The dance didn't last long enough- soon the song was changing and Kurt was pulling back slightly from him, a serene smile on his face.
"I'm so proud of you, Dave." Kurt said brightly, making Dave's heart swell.
"I... I meant what I said, I'm so sorry about everything. I'm going to start making it up to you, not just with the anti-bullying, but with everything. I'm coming out, I can't do this anymore. It's too hard... plus, with me as the new target, maybe people will leave you alone a little."
Kurt looked at him oddly.
"You... oh, Dave." Kurt exclaimed, throwing his arms around him and hugging him tightly. Heat ran through Dave's body, and he knew his face was probably glaringly red.
"While I'm honored you want to save me some bullying, if you think for one minute I'm going to stay out of any altercations that involve *you* being bullied, you're crazy. Like I said, I'm here for you. You aren't going to go through this alone." at this, he leaned into Dave and kissed his cheek. Dave's heart skipped a beat.
'He... he just...'
Maybe this whole coming out thing wouldn't be so bad afterall.
