Shakespeare's Three Witches
"Macbeth" has ended, the three witches hover above the stage.
First witch: A sticky end befits the tyrant king.
Second witch: Let Birnam wood be crowned anon.
Third witch: And a tired country respite bring.
All: For Macbeth is gone!
First witch: Untimely ripped his head.
Second witch: Not timely enough!
Third witch: Poor Duncan ripped from bed.
First witch: A king made of stronger moral stuff.
Second witch: Would be a joy more to break.
Third witch: Hath the limping prince enough discontent, flowing through a jealous vein?
First witch: For his brother's blood he'll take?
Second witch: We can brew the displeasure in our Donalbain.
Third witch: If upon our grim doorbell ring.
First witch: We'll brew a mixture fit to drink.
All: For the next tyrant king!
First witch: And the next,
Second witch: And the next,
Third witch: And the next.
First witch: For violence only begets more.
Second witch: And in curdled nest.
Third witch: Tyrant is born.
This was an assignment for my english class last year, I just really like it and thought I would post it.
