It wasn't a whisper, it was actually rather an announcement to the room.
But it might as well been for all the effect it had, touch parted and the ghosts of his past were now gone
Remus hadn't slept, actually slept, since the battle at the Department of Mysteries. How could he sleep? What was the point, if he'd just wake up alone? There wasn't anyone to make the nightmares go away.
It was different, infinitely so, when Sirius had just been gone. Then, though it wasn't enough, he had had hate to dwell on. Now, there wasn't anything to keep him going.
"We're pulling apart and coming together again." Words echoed, there was no one to hear them in Remus's bedroom. Sirius always left, why had he expected him to stay this time? Everyone always left, why did he expect different?
