Kagura/Sesshomaru "heart"

"I'm going to free you." From the wrong person, at the wrong time, with the wrong heart behind it. But at least she had her heart back, for all it was worth now.

She could truly feel her wound. Not the pain, because a heart missing couldn't stop physical injury. No, it was the fear. For the first time since she was created, there was something other than ice and the dancing of wind where her heart should be, and she was afraid. But not regretful, much to her surprise. She knew that she should be. She was dying, and she'd never be able to fly like she wanted, without binds holding her wings.

Dying, in a quiet field of white flowers, save for those blood-red ones which marked her body, as if to say that even in death she would not be as she was meant. Not pure, in cause nor heart. She had always been torn, between flying free and letting her heart weigh her down.

White and red flowers in the pattern of a robe, and fur instead of feathers. The feeling of a wholesome wind, that which was exactly how it was created. Cold, and sharp, and perfect. Three heartbeats. The wind, the earth, and the next world, and the first two fading as the last pulled at her.

She was wrong. She'd had a regret, just one. A regret who was standing in front of her, his face impassive even as hers broke into a true and honest smile. Because with your heart missing, one couldn't only be removed from fear. They were removed from love. Bound already to a cruel master, so that fierce spirit could not take residence in an empty breast. And that bond had broken.

And then she was gone all at once, like a feather drifting on the wind. "Was she suffering?"

"No." His face turned to the sky, watching as she finally flew free. "She smiled."

A/N My penname doesn't translate well to this fandom either! Grrr!
