"To arms!" "To Arms!" "We're under attack! Nagato, Hikigaya take Lady Mogami and go, I and the rest of the guard will hold them off!"
Shouted captain Kudo. ""Yes Captain"" The two shouted in unison. "This way Hime-sama" Hikigaya offered. As they mounted on their horses, Lady Mogami was behind Hikigaya riding on his horse.
Nearby the clashing of swords could be heard in the courtyard of the castle. Aware of the oncoming army it was time to move. "Let's move!" Shouted Nagato. As the Mongols poured into the courtyard the guard held their ground. Lady Mogami's guard fought with tenacity but was dwindling in numbers. As Hikigaya and Nagato exited through the back of the castle toward the highway the Mongol commander spotted them. He pointed to four of his bodyguard and shouted: "After them!". When Nagato and Hikigaya were on the outskirts of the now burning compound they stopped to figure their next move. "This highway forks to two areas, one travels to Lord Kinute's mansion, like the other leads across a ravine toward the city of Beppu." Explains Nagato. "Ah, the city gives us more of a chance, let's head out toward there." Hikigaya reasoned. "Roger, Lets… Uwah" An arrow punctures the neck of Nagato and he falls from his horse. Hikigaya turns to see several mounted Mongols riding toward him, and one stationary with a bow out. He turns and immediately takes off toward the path toward the city. "Hime-sama, hold on!" He yells behind him.
They ride for half an hour or so outpacing their pursuers. They soon reach the ravine that is on the path toward the city. There is a small clearing that is present in the area of the beginning of the bridge. As he tries to cross the rope bridge his horse does not budge scared out of its witts to cross the shoddy looking bridge. As they dismount he sees the Mongols entering the fray. "Hime-sama, run!" He pushes Lady Mogami toward the bridge. "Bu..but what about you?" She shouts. Hikigaya smiles "Ill be right behind." arrows fly by and one strikes Hikigaya's horse dead. As Hachiman uses the horse as cover utilizing the side, Lady Mogami runs across. Hachiman now draws his yumi from the side of his horse.
There are four Mongols, they are mounted and shooting toward Lady Mogami who is still running across the bridge. Hachiman draws when he is in covered and peeks to see the mounted archers. He sees the most vulnerable target and rises quickly. Hachiman releases the arrow and punctures in the chest of an armorless Mongol. The armorless Mongol falls from his horse and stops moving. Seeing this, two Mongols dismount as the last one stays mounted. Hachiman ducks down, and draws a Naginata and leans in wait. The two rush his position, one armed with a saber and shield, the other armed with a spear. Hachiman looks across and sees Lady Mogami safely across the bridge.
Time to get on with it then, He peeks to see the two rushing him, and suddenly rises to confront them. The shield bearer is a bit closer than the spearman, so Hachiman is met with him first. The Mongol slashes with his saber, but is parried with the naginata and stumbles right. Hachiman knocks the head of the Mongol with the back of the Naginata and the Mongol is knocked forward. Hachiman turns and slashes the Mongol when he was still stumbling forward. He falls and dies where he falls.
The second Mongol now arrives and thrusts at his midsection. Hachiman moves right and the spear misses him. Hachiman raises the Naginata and slashes down but is tackled before he could connect the blade with the Mongol. They tumble forward, but Hachiman uses his elbow and jabs it into the enemy's neck repeatedly. The grip around Hachiman loosen, and Hachiman grabs the neck and holds it until the adversary is knocked out.
He then sees the last Mongol on the horse. The horseman draws and releases an arrow. Hachiman rushes back behind his horse but is hit in his left leg. He takes his yumi and returns fire by popping up and shooting. The bowman ducks, dismount and takes cover in the brush. After a few returns, Hachiman's bowstring snaps, and the bowman's arrows have been depleted. The Bowman rushes Hachiman with only a saber drawn. Hachiman stands and moves forward a bit to be clear of his horse. The bowman slashes right and Hachiman parries and thrusts at the Mongol's center. The Bowman moves right and then slashes from overhead. Hachiman tries to block but the Naginata is split in half. Hachiman immediately tackles the Bowman and the fall forward. Hachiman pins the bowman with the enemy's arms overhead and immobile.
The helmet of the Bowman falls off and Hachiman's face reddens. The Bowwoman looks panicked and frightened. As Hachiman sees her face and sees that he won and decides to strike a deal. "If you give your word that you won't attack me when I get off, I won't kill you... Fair?" She shakes her head to signal yes. "Right then... Err sorry." He gets up and dusts the dirt off of his tunic. Pulling up the Mongol upward to her feet, he smiles and pats the shoulder of his adversary. "Well then… Uh... no hard feelings." Hachiman picks up the spear and one of the sabers and sheathes gathers the rest of the weapons and tosses them in the ravine.
He then crosses the bridge using the broken Naginata staff as a cane and makes his way toward Lady Mogami. As he is about to clear the way he smiles at Lady Mogami. "See (he smiles) I told you I would be right behind." He looks behind and sees the bowwoman still standing there. He waves and turns to step forward. Suddenly his foot falls through a rotten plank. He tries to pull himself out and then chuckles toward Lady Mogami. "Well, that could have been baaaaaaaa…." Suddenly Hachiman falls completely through the bridge. Both Bowwoman and Lady Mogami eyes widen with shock. Hachiman as he is falling laughs heartily.
Only something as absurd as this could happen to me. He now opens his eyes still laughing but instead of finding the ground of the ravine, he finds himself in his bed instead. "Oniichan! What is going on?!" Shouts Komachi. "Uh.. nothing Komachi, just... Just had a good dream is all." While a bit surprised, he responds using whats popped into mind "Hmm... A good dream..? What of?" Komachi asks questionly"Ah, err one with you in it… any dream with you in it is a good one, that must of earn me a ton of Komachi points.. Komachi?" He smiles. He sees Komachi redden slightly and stares blankly ahead. "Oh, ah... Ahahaha Nice one Oniichan… well, Breakfast is almost ready, so get up!" Komachi states as she recovers. "hai... Hai.. Give me a few minutes okay?" Hachiman tries to reason. "Hai hai Oniichan, just don't take too long teehee."
With that stated, she retreats. And thus starts another weekday in the Household of Hikigayas. After an uneventful breakfast, he drops Komachi off at her school, and heads to his. As he parks the bike, and heads inside he places his head on his desk and listens to his phone as per usual. Soon Hiratsuka-sensei walks in and so begins class. "Rise, Bow, Sit" States the class representative.
The teacher stands in front and addresses the class. "Ah..ahem.. Before we start today, I'd like to introduce a new student, while it may be a bit uncommon for transfers this part of the year I hope you all give a warm welcome." Smiles Hiratsuka-sensei. Hachiman raises his head to feint attentiveness but his eyes widen in surprise. "Hello, my name is Mogami Ondenora please treat me favor...a...bly." The new student faulters in their address as her eyes meet Hachiman and also become surprised. As they both stared at each other both gained the same thought. What is she/he doing here!?
