"Why have you summoned me, President Snow? Am I to get rid of someone?" I bowed to the man, his white beard twitching.
"Ashby. You are to go into the Hunger Games." He instructed. I nodded.
"And you are to kill Katniss Everdeen."
"Is she not a part of the Rebels?"
"She is a rebel. And she is giving the people hope. She was nearly killed in the last Hunger Games, but was just put in a coma. She must be eliminated."
Eliminated. Eliminated. The word repeated in my head. I'm not sure it was a surprise this time. Mother is a rebel.
"Yes, President Snow." I bowed to the man again, and walked out of the large steel doors.
I am the assassin for District 12. I have been assigned to kill thousands. I was once assigned to kill Peeta, but I've heard he is already dead, thanks to the Hunger Games last year. My staff numb in my hand, I walked to the forest, Katniss's natural habitat. I watch Katniss a lot. Her and Gale, happy. Hunting what ever gets in their way.
It's a kind of love you wish you had. But you don't have it. Only Katniss and Gale do. But why not Peeta?
I heard Katniss had a miscarriage of Peeta's kid, while the cord damaged her and her baby. But I suspected it wasn't real. I suspected they pretended to have the baby, to stop the Games. Mother believes that the Capitol stopped the baby. A way of life. My mother pays more attention to Katniss Everdeen, than me. Anger boiled up inside me.
