Dean Thomas, the eternal optimist had lost all hope. Instead of his usual smile, he wore of an expression of grief, while large tears rolled out of his eyes.

The cause for his sorrow? A girl. A very extraordinary one otherwise known as Ginny Weasley.

Even now, he could still perfectly picture her beautiful smile and her heartbreakingly melodic laugh, She had broken up with him, saying that they "weren't compatible" and "they should go their separate ways".

So there he sat, under a tree they once kissed under, crying for the first time in his life.

Suddenly he heard a twig snap. Dean stood up quickly, his wand out.

"Who's there?" He said nervously.

"Lord Voldemort." Said Seamus sarcastically, stepping out of the shrubbery, chuckling to himself.

"You bloody joker." Said Dean, giving Seamus a playful shove, laughing through his tears. If anyone knew how to make him feel better, it would be his best friend.

"What happened?" Seamus asked.

With a sigh, Dean said "Ginny broke up with me."

"Oi, that must be awful," said Seamus, his eyebrows knit in concern. "I know how serious you and Ginny were-"

Dean suddenly broke into sobs, saddened by the very mentioning of her name."

"C'mon mate, I know it's hard. It'll be okay." Said Seamus, awkwardly patting Dean on the back.

"She was just perfect, you know?" Said Dean through his tears. "I couldn't think of anyone I would rather be with." Dean sighed. "I don't think I'll ever find anyone like her."

Dean burst into tears again. Seamus sat behind Dean awkwardly, putting his arm around him.

"She was just perfect you know? Will anybody ever want me? Will anybody ever love me?" Dean asked, his eyes still glistening with tears.

"Maybe the love you seek is right in front of you." Seamus mumbled, blushing.

"What do you mean?" Said Dean with a small chuckle. "You're as confusing as one of Professor Trewlaney's crystal balls."

"Maybe I..." Said Seamus, hesitating.

"Maybe you what?' Dean said, genuinely confused.

"Maybe I love you." Said Seamus, exhaling. "Maybe I knew since the moment I met you that I loved you and I didn't want anyone else, only you. Do you know how much it pains me to see you with other people? Eddie, Ginny..." Seamus paused. "But you know what? I know deep down that you'll never love me back, so I've resigned myself to a fate of silently loving you from afar."

Dean sat agape, his head spinning.

"Never mind. I was foolish to think you'd even care." Seamus stood up and started to walk away.

Dean was confused. Guilt, remorse, and angst brewed up inside of him.

But Dean knew how he truly felt. Deep down he knew what his heart wanted. Dean knew what he had to do.

So Dean ran after Seamus. When be caught up to Seamus, he grabbed his hand.

"Maybe..." Said Dean breathlessly. "Maybe I love you too."

And then they were kissing, and deep down Dean knew this is what he wanted.

Little did they know that Ginny Weasley, all the way in Gryffindor Tower, was looking out the window, smiling the biggest smile she had ever smiled in a long time.
