Alone Together

"This is just absolutely ridiculous..." Katara mumbled, shaking her head.

Katara had been in the forest circling around for almost three hours, constantly changing hiding spots. The Gaang had decided to play a quick game of hide and seek to pass the time, but the waterbender's competitive nature had dragged it out into a seemingly never-ending competition.

"Never again, Katara..." she sighed.

Just as she was going to take another step, she heard another voice from behind.

"Never again what?" asked Zuko, walking towards her.

Before she could rethink her actions, she had already bended water at the older teen, forgetting that Zuko was the seeker in the Gaang's impromptu game. Surprised at the unexpected attack, Zuko stumbled a bit on a bit of tree root, causing the firebender to fall to the forest floor.

"What was that for?" Zuko questioned Katara, looking her in the eyes through his wet bangs.

Katara just looked at the other sheepishly, quickly offering her hand for the other to take.

"...instincts?" she said, apologetically coming up with an excuse.

Zuko took the waterbender's hand and stood up, steaming himself off.

"You should control those instincts...especially when they're directed at your boyfriend," he said, giving her a look and intertwining their fingers.

Katara just blushed indignantly and took her hand away, causing the other to chuckle. A bit embarrassed at her blush, she wordlessly walked back toward the direction of temple, leaving Zuko behind.

"Katara...I was just kidding..." Zuko explained, catching up.

She just gave him a small 'hmph' in response although she did accept his outstretched hand. Together, the two slowly made their way back, hands interlocked, making sure to treasure the rare moment alone together.
