The last thing Sarah Jean remembered was the black hood had lowering over her head. Then, clenching her eyes shut she waited for the pain she knew was coning only... it never did. In fact, a moment after she squeezed her eyes shut a hand landed on her shoulder.
"Open your eyes." a gentle, if not exactly smooth, voice prodded. Sarah Jean did so, expecting to find that the Agent had gone back on his decision and saved her life and doomed her sons but instead found a petite dirty blonde standing in front of her.
"What... what's going on?" Sarah asked, looking down and realizing she wasn't tied down to a chair anymore, she wasn't in her execution clothing, she even had her hair. On top of that they were standing outside the prison, utterly ignored by the mob that had gathered outside, waiting for her own and her sick bastard of a husband's demises.
The blonde smiled, "You're dead Sarah Jean. Electricity was just poured through your body until all life left it."
That did nothing to explain the confusion running through the innocent mother's head, "Why are we outside the prison?"
"I took your soul before you died Sarah Jean. It's why you don't remember the pain of electrocution. I'm a reaper. My name's George."
"A reaper... what happens now?"
"That, is entirely up to you. All you need to do, is relax."
Sarah Jean looked at the blonde self-proclaimed reaper for a moment with a raised eyebrow. Still, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath, when she opened them she gasped. In front of her was a beautiful sight, a sight she never thought she'd see. Her son, running through the meadow she'd painted. She knew it was just a construction, possibly her heaven, but it made her happy. She was about to take a step toward it but stopped. "I can't."
The blonde's eyebrow furrowed, "What do you mean you can't? That's your lights. You're supposed to go in."
Sarah turned around, in time to watch FBI Supervisory Special Agent James Gideon leave the same prison she'd been executed in, "He needs me more than I need those lights. I owe him my son's life. I'm sorry, but I can't do what you want me to." Statement said, and blonde reaper thoroughly perplexed, she turned and walked toward the SUV the Agents were slowly piling into and hopped in herself.
