It had been like Beauty and the Beast.
I was gorgeous (no point denying what is patently true). I could have any man I wanted, handsome men that other girls went gaga for lay down at my feet.
He was… well… not beautiful like me. To be frank, he was an overweight chain smoker with flabby arms, rough skin and greasy hair. He was brash and rude. Truly quite a beast.
Yet I was inexplicably drawn to him. Perhaps it was those bright eyes, the way they looked at me with ardent longing. Perhaps it was that endearing pout. Maybe the bravado even had something to do with it.
It had been like Beauty and the Beast.
