For a smart Bot, Smokescreen was especially willing to do incredibly stupid things. Bulkhead told him this back at the base, and he still was sure of his place in the team.
Smokescreen knew that the other option was certain offlining from the Decepticons, and he was willing to put his spark on the line. If Team Prime was to make that sacrifice, then why shouldn't he?
He thought about asking things to the others like why do you all chase after the cons, then? He'd never have thought they would devote such time and energy to battles to be fought another solar cycle.
