Introduction
Silence
You'd think by now the young witch would be used to the silence but it was different this time. It wasn't filled with the frightful fear that something would be hiding behind the bushes, it wasn't full of the silent tears that fell from the 3 pairs of tired eyes of hers and her best friends. It was simply...silence.
It was finally over, no more running and no more hiding it finally ended.
As her eyes inspected the environment around her one thing was clear, yes it might be a cause to celebrate but there was going to be a great deal of loss to endure. She flinched as a worn hand landed on her wrist. The big roughed up hand seemed to swallow her tiny limp wrist but she had spent enough time with him to recognise them.
"Harry..." She struggled to let her voice out
"Shh mione, it's over, it's finally over" He gently pulled her frail wrist as her body moved so it was eloped by his arms.
"Harry, Ron he..." She began but was quickly quieted as his arms seemed to hold onto her tighter.
"I know" Was his only reply. The brunette witch closed her eyes in an attempt of forgetting the circumstances that they seemed to be under, however when she did so all that she imagined was him. Her best friend, her lover...her beautiful ginger, after everything that happened they had only recently acknowledged their feelings for one another, they had kissed. She had shared with him something so intimate which she had waited 19 years to give, her first kiss, she gave it to him and now he had gone. However much she wished that she could lie by his side and let her tears roll down as she caressed him begging him to wake up and open his eyes, she knew she couldn't. It would be to selfish on her part.
I love you...she remembered them exchanging those words before she was pushed down to the concrete floor by no one other than the boy that tortured her all those 6 years she visited Hogwarts.
"Run Granger!" He yelled in her direction before turning around and hexing a death eater...one of his own kind. At that very moment she was to shocked to question it and turned around to grab Ron. Hermione's brown hazel eyes seemed to connect and lock with his blue sapphires for a split second before the red spark hit him making him collide to the ground.
It was today...the day she'd have to say good bye. She wasn't sure if she was ready for this but she knew there was no choice. She hadn't shed a tear, not a single tear since that day. You didn't have to be the brightest witch Hogwarts has ever seen to know that, that wasn't healthy but she couldn't bring herself to crumble. Her hands patted down the loose black dressed which had once been perfectly fitting and she made her way down the stairs of the burrow and was greeted with all the sorrowful looks of the Weasley clan and Harry.
"R-ready dear?" Mrs Weasley choked out.
"Yes" Was her only response.
Arriving at the funeral home they all took their seats and waited for the ceremony to begin. One by one the Weasleys broke down as they described their beloved brother, friend and son. Hermione was overwhelmed with emotion but still she did not allow herself to crumble, which just couldn't happen. Taking her turn as she made her way towards his coffin she let out 2 small phrases which were the only thing she was capable of letting out.
"Goodbye, I love you Ron Weasley" She then closed her eyes and walked away.
