Haven't written in such a long time! Whelp, I'm kinda obsessed with James Bond right now so this is gonna be a mission-type story, holla! \0/ Short first chapter! Hope ya like it!
Eli's POV
"All right, first mission; I'm gonna need you to introduce yourself. Get to know Miss Matlin. Find out her interests, dislikes, etc. Be friendly, but not too friendly. Scare her off and you're off this mission," Simpson said, "With no pay." He added. Great.
I nodded at Simpson's commands. "Wait, what if—" Simpson's watch went off.
"What are you still doing here? Go!" and with that, Simpson pushed me out of the camouflage van, slamming the door shut behind me. I fixed my casual clothes a little, then turned on the small walky talkie device in my ear.
As soon as I stepped foot into the pet store, I noticed the 5"8 tall, black-haired, blue-eyed girl standing in her supposed usual position; in front of the hugest fish tank in the store. She matched the description I was given only a few hours ago, up until now.
I cleared my throat, not knowing what to expect from a girl like what I'd heard, and made my way towards her.
Her face was pressed against the glass and when she realized my presence next to her, she slowly turned to me and just stared.
"Hi," I nervously held my hand out for her to shake, only to have her stare at as if it was some sort of disease bank. She turned on her heel and began to walk away. I followed after her. "What about the fishies?" I called out, hoping it'd stop her from walking so fast. She stopped dead in her tracks, turned and looked at me—no, past me—with fear in her eyes. Stepping out of the way, she speed walked back to her original spot in front of the fish tank and continued admiring them.
Success!
I smoothed my way back next to her, watching her watch the sea animals, as if hoping to understand why a girl like her would come to the same place every day at the same exact time since forever. "You like these creatures that I call food?"
Slowly, as if aggravated with my presence, or maybe wary, the girl took her gaze off of the tank and turned her head to me.
"I know martial arts and I'm not afraid to use it." her voice trembled. I spat out hysterically laughing, causing my ears to ring. Simpson..
"Do not get her upset! Time is running out!"
Those stupid ear devices were so irritating. Only part of the job I hated. That, and the spontaneous calls at night to get a head start on missions instead of sleep, like normal people.
I thought in my head her daily schedule to see what she was up to next. Watch the fishies for awhile, contemplate walking a mile, eat at a pizzeria instead, read, tv, brush then bed.
Pizza. I threw my hands up in defense to pretend to be scared of her threat. "I'm sorry, I'll leave! I'm going for lunch right now, anyways." she stood there, in defense mode. "See you around," I waited for a name, although I already knew it.
"Katie," Katherine.
"See you around Katie." and with a bow, I walked away, ignoring her final request for my own name.
First chapter! Hope ya like it lol reviews are nice! ;)
