A/N I went back and cringed at some of this chapter so I edited it.
Jake saw her for the first time through the window of the library, walking along the cobbled path, the wind blowing her hair in 10 different directions. She had started giggling then stopped suddenly, as if she was mad at herself for finding her situation funny.
He saw her walk to the door of the library and gently opened it. His brows quirked in confusion as that door was pretty heavy and even he, a scholastic wrestler, couldn't open it without a bit off effort.
As if sensing his eyes on her she looked in his direction, he quickly averted his gaze to the psychology book he was supposed to be reading.
He didn't want to appear to be stalker-ish so he didn't look at her again, until ten minutes later when she pulled out a chair at his table.
She was incredibly beautiful. Her light brown hair falling across her shoulders gently touching her chin and highlighting her well proportioned lips.
"Hello." She said breezily.
Jake suddenly found himself incapable of words but he finally stammered a "Hi." to her.
"May I sit here ?" She asked kindly.
He made a flustered gesture that he hoped she understood as a 'Yes'. She smiled at him and sat down.
She quickly opened one of the many books from her pile and began to read. Her hair fell as a curtain covering her face. He suddenly realised he had been staring at her and resumed staring blankly at the page, as he was doing before this stranger distracted him.
They sat in silence for a while and he saw her squirm in her chair out of corner of his eye. She looked like she was internally arguing with herself. He was about to ask if she was okay when she looked up and caught his eye.
"My name's Ariadne." She told him abruptly.
"Jake." He replied smiling.
She returned the smile and dropped her head onto her hand.
"So you're majoring in Psychology?" She asked gesturing to the book in front of him.
"Trying to. What are you majoring in ?" He asked her.
"Ancient History." She replied.
"I think my friend is taking that. Do you know Julia ?"
Ariadne pursed her lips slightly. "Blonde hair ?" Jake nodded.
"She says it's difficult." He continued.
She shrugged. "It's alright. A lot of work though."
They lapsed into silence again.
He glanced at the clock on the wall and saw that it was nearly 7. He was meeting Mark on the hour so they could go 'pick up some chicks' as he had put it. He would love nothing more than to forget about it and stay sitting here in silence with Ariadne, but he had already cancelled on him once this week and if he did it again he would no doubt end up paying for it.
He cleared his throat and raised from his chair.
"You're leaving ?" She asked looking up at him.
"Yeah, I'm meeting a friend." He told her. She looked slightly disappointed. "I was actually going to come back tomorrow. So I might see you again ?" He said the last part as a question.
"You might." She replied throwing her hair over her shoulder.
He grinned. "I'll see you." He picked up his book bag and walked towards the door.
Jake looked back once and his grin grew wider as he walked through the heavy door.
A/N Really short chapter but hopefully the next will be longer. We will also be seeing everyone again soon.
Thank you Allie for allowing me to borrow your books and I'm not sorry for nagging you to lend me them.
