Moving Forward

Summary: After Tartarus, the gang pushes on with their daily lives, unaware of the battles they thought.

Rating: K+...could change assuming that it goes on one more chapter.

Type of Story: General

Author's Note: This is mostly just for kicks and to get my mind back into shape…so yeah. I might tack on a second chapter somewhere if it seems decent...oh, and expect this to be somewhat short.

My writing could get sloppy here, so feel free to point out any glaring mixups so I can fix it. Thanks.

POV?: Minato's.

Disclaimer: I do not own the Megami Tensei series. It belongs to its owner, Atlus.

With a yawn, I got myself out of bed and checked the clock.

It was 6:55 AM…right on the dot. A sigh of relief escaped my lips as I dragged my somewhat heavy body over to the door, rubbing my eyes. As I put on the last pieces of my uniform, I opened it.

"Mornin'…" I spoke out to whoever was present.

"Hey." A somewhat familiar voice rang. I looked towards the direction it came from and found Sanada-senpai, Gekkoukan's ace boxer. He was seated on one of the backless chairs at the middle of the floor—and as soon as he saw me he gave me a double take. "…You look like you had a bad night's sleep, Arisato. What happened?"

"Nothing too bad…I'll be fine." I waved his worries off.

"Alright, if you're sure…but if you feel any bit tired don't shy away from getting your rest." He replied, going back to sorting out his things. Nodding, I straightened out my uniform as I made my way downstairs.

The heavy, somewhat sluggish feeling I was getting began to bug me. It feels like I had gone for a marathon and never rested… I don't really remember why though. It's strange…but I can't really keep my mind on it. School's waiting.

The ones to greet me downstairs were Takeba-san and Iori-san. I'm a considerable deal closer to the former, I'll say that much. They gave me a quick greeting as we set off towards school, Junpei justifying Yukari's nickname for him…by nearly running straight into a pole. He barely escaped it, but managed to step on a passer-by's pet dog's tail. This, of course, didn't turn out too well.

Another sigh left my lungs at his shenanigans…but part of me felt content for whatever reason.

Yukari was quick to notice. "What's got you smiling all of a sudden?"

I let out a yawn before responding. "Just a thought that went in my head…It's fuzzy…but it's there." The words came out a little slurred—and on the inside I prayed that I wouldn't regret paying that odd monk one final visit before whatever happened yesterday. To my relief, she didn't notice that…though she seemed to see my exhaustion a bit more clearly than Akihiko did earlier.

"…Well, okay, if you say so. Oh, when we get back…try to get some more rest, would you? I'm really worried about how you look right now." I nodded at her voiced worries, and she mouthed a 'Thanks' in return as we continued down the road. Her hand seemed a slight bit closer to mine than usual...but maybe it was just me.

Junpei eventually began to trail us a lot more closely. If there were people following him, he'd be beet red with embarrassment, seeing the massive tear on his rear end. We looked him over before we went through the school gates, and saw the damage left behind by the dog that pounced on him.

Yukari smacked her forehead and let out a sigh laced with both aggravation and amusement...if that was even possible. "Once a Stupei, always a Stupei."

"In the end...He'll never change." I let out a somewhat hearty chuckle despite myself.

"Take it easy on me, will you? I just came close to having my rear end torn off by someone's dog!" He ran in to stay close and avoid getting locked out of class.

Something in the back of my head told me that it'd be a long day…and at the same time, an interesting one.
