Darkness was complete along the endless frontier, a plane that outstretched before a young maiden, the pale skin of the little lost mortal gave light to the deep tenebrous milieu. The only landmark that was certain was an obscure black kingdom that sat far and away adrift the ebony skies like a grand beacon whose flame had dwindled long centuries past.

Blood curdling echoes emanated from the evil distances, spirits that wished a life of flesh howled like hungry scavengers enclosing in on a weak lamb. The girl who stood amongst her own dream knew this world, it was one she had visited firstly two nights past and again every other night. It was just a dream she would tell herself, clearly like she were awake and truly standing in reality. However, her feeble reassurances could never prevent the primal whispers from creeping along her spine like a menacing spider.

With each trembling footstep soft petals cascaded from a delicate wreath woven round hair as black as the endless world. The petals fluttered away like dieing butterfly's that were soon engulfed in the prison that would swallow and crush the girl if she did not begin to move ever more fast. She grabbed at the skirts of her gown and broke in to a run, like feral dogs the inky shades manifested and gave a ravenous pursuit, the unknown earth beneath her naked feet was frigid and bit with the sting of ice. At that thought she was suddenly falling downward, cleanly into a sink hole spewing with rotten undergrowth and rancid smelling water that chilled to the bones core. She screamed and thrashed about, never had she learned to swim in her short life.

The twisted wilderness bound her form and cut her flesh with its sharp tendrils, she was like a hopeless bird tangled within coarse thistle. She knew this was where it ended, pulled to the darkness by a slimy grasp where she met the eyes of a demon.

She awoke silently, it was a summer days dusk.
