A/N: I found this in a notebook and thought I'd might as well type it up and post it! Just a sweet little one shot.
Senior year of high school. Tracy had never expected it to be anything amazing; if you'd asked her at the start of the year before how she saw her last months at High School she'd have said she wasn't looking forward to it.
But it was an utterly amazing year for her – Tracy was heralded a hero of her school (minus her geography teacher), her city and most importantly of her, her parents; her parents let her have her dream. Baltimore had been shaken to its foundations that interracial activities started there but Tracy was determined to iron out the pockets of hate that had erupted at the edges.
Link and Tracy had never been happier and despite the occasional bitchy comment fired from a jealous rival, neither of them gave a damn. Penny had moved in with Tracy when her mother had kicked her out. She was still going strong with Seaweed and had been offered a room at his, but Edna Turnblad put her foot down and said while she didn't care about their skin colours, no unmarried woman should live with their prospective husband. Penny had been taken in by an open hearted Edna who'd had a few choice words to her Mother, many of which she told the religious zealot.
There was one guest they weren't quite banking on though; Amber Von Tussle.
Amber had been shamed in front of the nation and resolved to change. She didn't want to turn into her money sucking heartless mother, she realised Link had never really cared for her, not in the way he cared for Tracy and put the idea of marriage behind her. She bribed Corny Collins into giving her dance lessons when she realised she really was below standards and focused on her school work more than her make up. Just when she thought she had her life finally straightened and for once she was in control, when the Police burst down her front door and arrested Velma, her mother. They had finally found evidence linking her Mother to not only her father's death but Pedro the pool boy's and her two intermittent husbands.
Amber was homeless.
Not for long, Tracy had seen the change in Amber's character and Edna unofficially adopted the younger Von Tussle.
Senior year at Baltimore High was a complete change from Tracy's other depressing years – she was popular, she had a boyfriend, she still had her best friend and she'd changed history. She even managed to pass Geography.
Tracy never wanted the moment to end.
