To possess the gift of foresight was a blessing and a curse, but most days Ninian found it to be only a curse.
Back in her own world she'd been the treasured oracle, the maiden of great power. Their link between their world and the deties, of time and space. When she and Nils had crossed back over to their homeworld she was silently relieved to be free of her obligations, despite the guilt she felt at letting them down. What was the use of exhausting herself for nothing? Being able to see into the future but not being able to do anything about the coming danger sank her spirit a little more every time.
Among Lady Lyn and her merry band, though, she was a simple dancer who happened to have the gift of foresight. All they asked of her was to stay safe, let them know when she sensed enemies were near or there might be nasty weather, and favor them with a dance now and then. The feeling of being their comrade and not their oracle, someone they wanted to know as a person.
Ninian knew she wouldn't be here forever and that she and Nils would have to go home eventually, but for now all she wanted was to hold onto that feeling.
Once they were home, she'd never have it back.
