Hi guys! This is my first story on fanfiction so i hope you guys like it ! R&R plz. There will be more chapters too!

I was walking through the street in the icy rain. I was so hungry. I hadent had a proper meal in weeks and i was struggling to keep myself alive. My mom had left me alone. She ran off with some guy. Today was the day of the reaping in district 13. My name is Maddison Palmer and i (obviously) live in district thirteen. The reaping was a two o'clock and it was half one now. Oh god please make me safe for another year. Last year my best friend went to The Hunger Games. First to die. Since then ive had nothing. No mum, no dad, no friends.

I was making my way to the square now. I quickly ran to join the line of teenagers. Im sixteen now so i have only two years left before my name cannot be entered anymore. That day couldnt come soon enough. They pricked my finger, took some blood and moved me on to the. We all stood together in the square and the person who picks the names stepped forward. Her name was Selca. I know wierd name right. But thats how the Capitol works. And with strange namess come strange people. She did the whole speech that she usually does and then she said with a squeak in her voice, "Ladies first!". My heart stopped as she skimmed the top of the bowl with her fingers. She hummed something to herself but i couldnt make it out. "ahhh" she said as she pricked a tiny paper envelope out of the bowl. This was it. The moment of truth. She unfolded the paper and cleared her throught.

" The female tribute of the 74th annual Hunger Games is...Maddison Palmer. Congradulations!"

I couldnt move. The people in front of of me had made a path out of the crowds but i couldnt move at all. I fell to my knees and my hands hit the floor. stones dug into my . I didnt want to cry but my eyes were stinging. Suddenly i fell two people dragging me up by my arms. Im still silent. Not a single word spills out of my mouth.

as I stepped onto the stage,Selca put her arm around my filthy clothes. Im suprised. The Capitol people never usually came close to people whos hair, clothes and make up wasnt imaculate like theirs. Anyway here i was. On stage. About to be sent to my death.
