Crawford had made sure Nagi wasn't in the Schwarz flat because he wouldn't like it. Farfarello wasn't there because he'd like it too much. Schuldig was there.

When Crawford had finished, Aya was bruised and grey-faced.

Schuldig had to touch Aya to help him stand, but he kept it as brief as he could, taking care to keep at arms' length. He found one of his own thicker jumpers and a pair of his baggier jeans. He let Aya dress himself. The smaller man needed support to get in and out of the lift, then into the taxi. Schuldig offered a shoulder, not an arm.

Just before he closed the taxi door Aya looked up and stared into his eyes. "Why?"

Schuldig shook his head, closed the door, and gave the driver the Koneko's address.

He wouldn't tell Aya this was Crawford's way of teaching Schuldig a lesson. Discipline that wouldn't lessen the telepath's efficiency. It wouldn't help Aya to know this had all happened because Schuldig had a few little dreams about dark red hair and a dark gold voice. Dreams his Rosenkreuz trained boss had caught.

And Schuldig couldn't bear to tell him.
