Arya had never understood her big sisters fascination with love, not until she met Gendry. Somehow he had changed her, and she didn't understand how. Even if she thought about it, she wouldn't know. All she knew was that she felt changed, and perhaps for the better too, since her so recent past had ruined her hopes for happiness in the future. She'd thought that maybe her father would have found her a suitable man, not one that she would love, but one that would care for her and take care of her, despite her manly behavior. But after Gendry she couldn't imagine being with anyone else. It was like he consumed her whole heart and mind. Her eyes followed him around the forest as she worked with the dirty pots, washing her clothes or sharpening Needle.
She sat by the fire, watching him sleep. His breathing was heavy and he snored slightly. Arya rested her head against her knees, sighing heavily to herself. She didn't allow herself these long looks when he was close to her, she couldn't afford to let him find out how she felt about, even if he probably knew already. She couldn't afford any more problems right now. Her biggest priority was to get her revenge. Another sigh escaped her lips and she jumped as a man sat down beside her.
"You seem troubled, boy." The man said, Arya glanced at him before looking into the fire.
"I'm fine." She said, throwing another log into the fire. The man chuckled lightly, standing up again.
"You don't look fine, you look like you're in love, boy." Her eyes snapped to the man, "Let me give you some advice, life's short, give love a go." With a wave of his hand he disappeared into the shadows, leaving an even more troubled Arya to think.
Gendry looked over to her, "So you ran away?" Anger flashed across Arya's mind and she ran up to him, shoving him back with all her strength.
"I didn't run away!" She could feel tears burning in her eyes and she pushed them back, refusing to cry in front of such an idiot. "I had no choice, they were going to kill me!" She tiptoed to look into his eyes on the same level, but it didn't do much, so with her last strength she grabbed his shirt and pulled him down hard, so they were face to face, "You have no i-" She stopped blank in her tracks, being this close to his face made her heart speed up, her stomach fluttered helplessly and she could feel her knees growing weak. "Damn it." She whispered. Their eyes met, his blue eyes were filled with confusion and understanding and her own grey ones were filled with fear. Without thinking any further she gave into her hearts craving that had kept her up these past few nights, she kissed him. They stood there, kissing, for a few second before Gendry reacted, he lightly pushed her back to stare at her.
"Arya, no." He whispered, and at this moment she could almost hear her heart breaking. That heart which had never craved or loved before was crushed, with just two words. "It's just that you're so young." In the corner of her eye she saw that Gendry was about to grab her arm, and with ease she jumped back, filling her face with a big smile.
"Sorry, I don't know what came into me." She turned her back to him and was about to walk away when his words stopped her.
"Are you willing to wait two years for me?"
