Day after day, misery eats me apart. Lost in an endless night, my only joy is Yuki. Her bubbly, innocent, and sometimes clumsy ways are my only reason to continue living.

For more than 4 years my feelings have grown for her; from thinking of her as a little sister to seeing her as a grown woman. Today I can finally admit to myself that I've fallen in love with her. Oh Yuki! Would you still stand by me if you knew my hidden feelings? Would you still protect me from death after you find out what I'm really thinking?

I'm getting desperate; wanting her, needing her. Resisting her leaves me drowning in pain, but I know I can never have her. She belongs to someone else.

Then one day, everything changed.

"Zero! Come on, you knew the committee meeting was today! We're already late!" Yuki calls from downstairs.

As I leave my room, I see her waiting for me. The lust I've tried so hard to hide quickly surfaces. I slam myself against the door; clutching my chest.

"Zero!" Yuki comes running up to me, "Zero, what's wrong?!"

Tears well up in my eyes, "Abandon me, Yuki."

"What? What are you talking about?" her face looking years younger in its confusion.

"Give up on me. Let me die so you can live a normal life with Kaname. He can protect you better than I ever could."

She lifts my head until we are looking into each other's eyes, "I'm not leaving you. No one is going to stop me from being there for you. And what do you mean about Kaname?"

"I love you, Yuki." I can't bring myself to watch her reaction, "I have for a long time."

There was a moment of silence before she wrapped her arms around me. We have hugged many times before but as we sat here, something felt different. I felt myself drawn to her now more than ever. Then cradling her petite face in my hands, I gave into temptation. I kissed her.

As we part, there is a look of uncertainty in her eyes. "Zero, I don't know if I can do this." She tries to make sense of this, "Honestly, I have feelings for you but Kaname also holds a place in my heart."

We shift positions so that Yuki is sitting on my lap. She lays her head against my chest as I stroke her hair. But I had to ask, "Yuki? Will you join me tonight in my dorm? Then after tonight we can pretend that nothing happened, but I would like to spend one night together first."

"Alright, Zero. I understand." Yuki blushed.

For hours after that, we stayed on the floor. We kissed each other, savoring each moment of our brief time together. Not knowing how much of this time we had, hoping that morning would never have to come. This was paradise, but if only for this night, I want to enjoy it to the fullest, and I hope I do, because tonight will never come again, because tomorrow it will be as if nothing had happened the night before.
