The music of their anger sang throughout the glen, the rhythm of their swords creating a tempo for the whistling of their blades. The two moved in perfect harmony, their long black hair and sinewy bodies twisting and twirling…in sync to each other and the battle surrounding them. Where the motion of one stopped, the other picked up…both pursuing the rapture of the timeless dance…the dance without steps…only pure motion…a pure deadly grace that found its way to the least of the participants.
Orcs.
Both twins surveyed the carnage surrounding them…another thirty of Sauron's minions destroyed. The air was heavy with the metallic smell of the black blood…soon to be mingled with the putrid essence of burning corpses. Satisfaction was allusive – relief would never come to the two broken hearts that stood together…alone. It was enough that they could share their pain – so easily etched in their eyes and upon their hearts.
And still, they were one.
Looking at each other, both silently agreed to leave. Their anger spent…if only for a little while… It was time to return home, to Imladris. To their father and their grief…the ever constant, but silent, companion of the Last Homely House since the unthinkable had happened to their Naneth. The Lady of Elrond, Daughter of Galadriel…their dear Naneth, Celebrian. What those Orcs had done was so horrific, even the most outspoken of their warriors could only whisper…and never in their joined presence.
A two day ride…
Riding into the courtyard of the Last Homely House, they were met their Adar, Lord Elrond. There was neither surprise, nor anger in the Elf Lord's face…only concern. "I have missed you, my sons. I trust you are both well?"
"Aye, Ada…we are well, but in need of baths." They offered in unison, grim faced.
"It is well then. You are home. All will be well this eve. We will have music in the Fire Hall. There will be dancing…"
