"Why would you order to have her killed, Lil? That isn't you.." Brick said as Lilith placed her head in her hands "Brick, Please. Just leave me alone..." Brick looked concerned as she sat down against the wall, he sat down beside her "Talk to me." She looked up at him for a second and back down at her hands "Athena said I was no better than them.. Do you think this is true, Brick?" He scratched his head as if he was thinking about it hard "I don't really think anyone is as good as they say they are, but Lil.. We're all just trying to get by, do our jobs.. Who we are doesn't really matter."
"Was he?" Lilith asked with more force than she intended
"Who?" Brick asked
"Jack." She said, saying the name with such dripping hatred "Was he just doing his job? Because according to Athena's story, he was constantly going against his boss and the company just to get power.. That's all he wanted in the end, power.. Was he doing his job when he shot my boyfriend in the chest?" Brick looked away sadly "Lil.." She grabbed his wrist "What?" She said angrily, her eyes flashed
"He wasn't your boyfriend when he died." He said in a quiet voice
"He didn't die, he was murdered!" She screamed, pushing herself up and heading toward the door
"Lil, what happened between you and Roland is nobody elses business, but you can't keep pretending that there was more to it than what it was." Brick got up and crossed the room, placing his hand on Lilith's shoulder comfortingly
"And what was it?" Lilith said, acid in her voice
"He was lonely and full of regret after what happened in The Lance, you were always alone, It seemed like a good match.. At least to pass the time."
She looked down at her feet "I'm not wrong, Lil. You two weren't... you just weren't"
She closed her eyes "It's my fault." she said, pushing his hand away "It's my fault he's gone, Angel.. she told me to stay away, she told me not to come, but I thought.. I thought I could help.. I thought she was just fucking with us like she always had before, I didn't know that Jack would..." She started crying, tears streaming down her face "I didn't know" Brick pulled her into a hug and let her cry into his chest while gently patting her back, not an easy feat for a man so big.
"I know, Lil, none of us did"
