"Mooommmm!" A small white dragon bounced across the room, knocking several items off the shelves in the process.

"How many times have I told you?" Ena scolded. "Dragon form is for outdoors only."

The youngster snorted, then shifted back.

Ena smiled. "Now what did you want to tell me?"

"You told me Dad died of a sickness. Grandpa just told me he was killed by a beorc. Who's telling the truth?"

Ena almost choked on her tea. She had known she would have to tell Rajen the truth someday, but she never expected that day to come so soon. Nasir needed to keep his mouth shut. Every day she saw more of Rajaion in her son, and every day it pained her to know Rajen would never meet his father.

Rajaion would have wanted her to tell the truth, no matter how hard it was. She looked Rajen straight in his ocean blue eyes, and brushed a lock of black hair away from his forehead. "Your father...was captured by a very bad beorc man. The beorc forced him to drink a potion, that made him stronger and meaner. He was then forced to commit terrible crimes, and after that the potion poisoned him to death." She swallowed her tears and waited for the response.

"Where is this beorc?" Rajen clenched his hands into fists. "Just tell me where he is and I'll-"

"He's dead." Ena interrupted. "He was killed in his own war."

"A good thing for many reasons!" Nasir walked over and sat down. Looking at Rajen, he added: "You have some growing to do before you try going after any bad guys. Beorc expecially. They may be helpless without their weapons, but get a large group angry, and it'll be like running through a swarm of killer bees."

"THERE you are!" Another young dragon laguz peeked in through the window. "We're about to go to the lake and play War. Keyoth has all her water squirters there already."

"I call dibs on the Triple Shot!" Rajen darted outside in a flash.
