"The Past Must Die"

I remember.

Those arms that once wrapped me up

In a temporary security

While you told me everything would be all right.

You lied.

I remember.

Those lips that kissed my head countless times

All cracked and dry now

That whispered sweet nothings about how you would protect me.

You lied.

I remember.

Those hazel eyes

Tired and worried

Staring at me while you said the nightmares would flee.

You lied.

You couldn't stop it.

You couldn't protect me.

You didn't stop him.

And now it's too late.

The nightmares won.

I am no longer that child

You fed your lies to

And the past must die.

Yes.

The past must die.

You must die.
