I do not own the characters, obviously

...and furthermore, I haven't read Inkspell in a while, so please forgive any discrepancies?

To the Publishers:

Truly, what were you thinking? The first book was a good effort. A few details wrong, but a good effort nonetheless. But in the second book, your Esteemed Authoress has outdone herself in the art of Ignoring the Facts. Isn't it enough that my intended story has been decimated? Must she decimate the truth as well, and heap the proverbial insult upon the proverbial injury? How could you stoop to publish such sensational drivel?

For instance: the 'romance' between Meggie Folchart and Farid. Obviously this was put in to appeal to the audience collectively known as 'Teenage/Preteen Girls.' Never mind the fact that Meggie and Farid themselves would be outraged. Never mind the fact that Farid is now dead. Yes, O E.A., he died at the end of the events that are 'chronicled' in your second book, and as of yet he has not come back to life. (Neither did Dustfinger die in his place, but as I would not put it past Dustfinger to do such a thing--why he would I have no idea; that boy is not worth dying for--that part is not quite so irksome as the rest.)

I will say nothing of the excessive use of profanity throughout the story despite the book being marketed to children, or of how Mortimer Folchart is reduced to a sad sort of side character whose unconditional platonic love, in Meggie's mind, obviously cannot compare to Farid's fickle romanticness. I shall not mention the fact that the editor in charge of trimming the book down to a decent size and at least making it halfway readable was obviously taking a very long vacation when he ought to have been working.

It did have a good title, I give you that. 'Inkspell'--very poetic. But even the most wonderful of titles is not enough to redeem a story that masquerades as fact. I wish you better luck in book the third, but the Authoress' dire prediction of 'there will be another boy' in regard to the Farid/Meggie plotline (oh, how it pains me even to type those two names with that particular mark of punctuation between them) does not leave me with much hope.

With all due respect,
