Disclaimer: I do not own Avatar: the last Airbender.

Just a one-shot I came up with while trying to find my muse for "Love is Painful".

You never came,

I tried to turn away when you smiled,

You made me laugh and with you the world never seemed blue,

But you never came,

With you I found life could be enjoyed,

That every second, minute and hour were worth something,

But you never came,

I told you to meet me on the at sunset when the hills sing,

When the sun meets the water and the moon will rise,

But you never came,

Your bother and the Avatar came instead,

Rage filled me when I saw the smoke where you camped,

But you never came,

Now I stand beside my once enemies ready to fight,

Let them fill my hate for them, let them burn for what they took,

But you never came,

My armor is cracking under the flames from my father,

Anger fills him when he sees his daughter dead near the stairs,

But you never came,

We did it Katara, we won.

I'm lying where the hills sing at the moment the sun touches the water,

I'm here for the both of us; your brother is fine, married now with his own kids,

But you never came,

Toph and Aang married as well with a child on the way,

But me, I have two adopted children a boy and a girl,

But you never came,

I'm 85 they say tonight might be my last I told them to take me to the hill,

I'm here Katara, where the hills sing and the sun touches the water,

But you never came,

I can almost feel you here when I close my eyes for the last time,

I see you on the hill where we were meant to meet,

You finally came.
