Another request by tate310, this time it's "Busy Going Backwards" from Season 5. Enjoy and comment.

Toad the break-van was feeling sad. Everywhere he looked, he saw engines and coaches moving forward. They all looked confident and cheerful.

One day, he decided to talk to Oliver, the Great-Western engine.

"I'm always going backwards Oliver. I want to go forward and be a leader!"

"You can't be a leader with out a train to follow you!" snorted Gordon "You don't even have a train, you're just a silly brake-van!"

Toad felt sadder still. Oliver wanted to help.

"You're very useful Toad. You help keep my freight cars in order when we go downhill.

"I know, but it would be nice to go forward for a change!"

The freight cars were cross.

"We like to go backwards sometime." they said. "But if Toad's going to complain, we'll teach him a lesson!"

The freight cars decided to carry along with their plan. When they neared the top of Gordon' hill, they played their trick.

"Ready, steady, go!" called the cars. They jerked and broke free from Oliver!

"We're making your wish come true Toad!" laughed the cars. "Follow the leader!"

Toad was shocked, so he didn't know what to say. He couldn't ask Oliver' driver, because he had jumped clear into a bush!

"Go faster!" screamed the freight cars.

Suddenly, Toad found it fun, but not for long! A crossing was up ahead, and the gates were closed. Toad couldn't stop and went right through the gates!

Worse of all, Toad realized he was on the wrong track! And even worse, Gordon was up ahead, getting a drink at the water tower!

The signalman switched the points, just in time!

"Faster, faster!" cried the freight cars.

Suddenly, he saw James pulling a long, slow train!

"HELP ME!" cried Toad and shut his eyes.

Thankfully, a shunter managed to switch the points just in time!

"What was that!" exclaimed James.

The signalman warned the stationmaster at the next station.

"There's a runaway coming!"

"Send him onto the siding!"

Then, Toad saw some buffers.

"Those should stop me!"

But the points to the buffers weren't set!

"I'm back on the main line!"

Meanwhile, Oliver was racing to the rescue.

"I must catch Toad!"

Toad flew pass Henry, but more danger laid ahead! Men were working on a bridge, but they had been warned about Toad.

They diverted him into old sidings, and Toad landed straight into a muddy pool!

"I've stopped at last!"

Oliver arrived and when he saw Toad, all he could do was smile.

"The pond is the only place for you!" he laughed

That night, Toad spoke to Oliver.

"I'm sorry Oliver if I embarrassed you!"

"That's alright Toad! So what do you think about going forward?"

"It's okay, but from now on, I'm only going backwards!"
