"Lily, this is not what I wanted!" Marshall nearly shouted, causing a group of kids and their parents to look over in curiousity and disaproval at the commotion. Lily on the other hand, was ignoring her husband and instead paying the man inside a tiny little booth, giving him cash and getting paper, yellow wristbands in exchange.
"In relationships, Marshall, you have to make compromises. This is my compromise."
In all actuality, it was a fair statement, but the way she said it, as if he wouldn't understand if she didn't explain it by speaking with little speed and sharp pronounciatian, made him glare softly at her.
He begrudgingly followed her through the tall, metal fencing, stopping to look at the first exhibit as they made it all the way inside. The sign said 'Ground Hog' and then went on to describe a bunch of other boring information in smaller font. Neither one of them bothered to read it, as Lily wasn't interested, and Marshall was too focused on being annoyed at his wife. His grimace grew.
"When I said, "Hey Lily, I think we should get a pet kitty cat!", and you say, "That's a great idea, Marshall, let's go get one!", and then proceed to take me to the zoo, I do not appreciate it. I refuse to enjoy this with you."
Lily sighed and looked down at the brick path they were staring at. She just wasn't a cat person. Sure, she thought they were cute, and when she saw one that looked friendly, she would give it a quick nuzzle, but she didn't want to be responsible for one. Not to mention, her mom had asked them to cat sit once and look how that turned out! Marshall tried to play with it and it fell out the apartment window to its demise! The proof was in 37 emails when Marshall made a musical photo montage about it and sent it to their friends. Now that she thought about it, maybe they should hold an intervention for that latest phase...She was getting tired of getting an email with a jingle inside over every little thing. Lily was broken out of her jumbled thoughts when she heard her husband squeal in a high pitched tone before pointing and shouting,
"Oh my goodness, baby, that is the cutest thing I have ever seen!"
Lily looked to see what he was pointing at, and indeed, a rather adorable rodent had poked its head from out of a hole in the ground.
"So is this a fair compromise?" She asked in a quiet, hopeful voice. He seemed to not have heard her.
"Do you think they have a butterfly exhibit? I want to see some butterflies!"
