Grace Yewbeam and the Discovery of her Powers
I do not own this series; sadly, all belongs to Jenny Nimmo. Except I own the character Grace Yewbeam. Please rate and review, Thank you!
Four years after the battle with the Bloor's, life in Filbert Street was peaceful. Paton, after the entire hullabaloo was over, had settled down and married Julia Ingledew. A year later had a lovely little girl named Grace. On this exciting day at the Yewbeams' house Paton and Julia made a very startling discovery…
"Now, Grace, you be a good girl and take your nap and when you wake up mommy will have dinner ready, okay?" Julia asked Grace whilst tucking her into bed.
"Otay me go to sleep right now." (A/N: Grace is still learning to talk so words will be spelled incorrectly to show this) So Grace Yewbeam cuddled into her bed closing her eyes. Julia chuckled softly and kissed her daughter's forehead then walked to the door, turning off the light while closing it. Unbeknownst to Julia, her three year old daughter did not want to go to sleep but rather wanted to draw pictures like Aunt Emma had shown her early this morning before leaving for school. Lifting the quilt off of herself, Grace climbed out of bed and reached under pillow drawing out a crayon box. She quietly snuck to the door and opened it slightly. As the light from the cracked opened door shone on the wall across from graces bed, Grace crawled to the wall and opened her crayon box. Concentrating very intently for a three year old, Grace pulled out a gold, a yellow, and an orange crayon and then she began to draw on the wall a likeness of the cats that lived with Grandma and Grandpa Onimous. After ten minutes, which in Grace's mind was ten hours, she was done with the bodies. Smiling in triumph, she grabbed the black crayon and finished her master-pieces. Finally, sleepy Grace yawned and climbed back into bed, not noticing that the cats were starting to move.
Meanwhile, Julia was making spaghetti for dinner. Suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, she saw something move. Looking over expecting Grace she saw three cat-like figures moving in the walls. Shrieking, she backed up into the corner, and Paton came racing in from the front door which he had just opened, shouting, "Julia!" He raced into the kitchen and he saw his wife with mouth agape pointing to the wall opposite the counter. Quickly going to her side he asked in a gentle tone, "Julia, are you alright? What happened?"
"C-Cats in t-the wall!" Paton looked alarmed, and then got an expression of understanding and said in a quiet voice,
"Uh… Julia darling, where is Grace?"
"In her bedroom… no, Paton, you don't think -" both looked at each other, and then nodded their heads. Together they yelled,
"Grace Amanda Yewbeam!"
