There was an open expanse within the canyon. The sun had reached its zenith.

The young man came to a halt in front of the young woman and a huge, white bison. He bent over with his hands on his knees, heaving oxygen into his lungs.

She stood and watched him. Her hands were on her hips and a frown was on her face.

After a moment, he caught his breath and stood up to his full height. He was considerably taller than the young woman. A cocky grin spread across his handsome face.

"You cheated," said the young woman. "A race is to see who is faster. Using airbending gave you an unfair advantage."

The man swept one of the woman's hair loopies out of her face. "They all cheated. I mean, did you see the way Sokka used his boomerang? And Toph riding a wave of earth isn't exactly fair.

The woman shook her head and sighed.

The man ran the palm of his hand across the top of his shaved head. "The point is, I won because I'm better. At cheating." His wide grin did not falter.

There was a rumbling coming up from behind the man.

"You better hurry up before they get here," he said.

"Hurry up with what?" she asked raising an eyebrow.

"With my prize, Katara."

She kissed his smile.

And the ground exploded behind him. "YOU CHEATING TWINKLE TOES!" Toph yelled, sending him flipping into the air with a boulder.

The young earthbending woman followed up her attack by sending rock spikes into the air after him.

"I thought you cheated too, why are you so mad?" Katara asked with wide eyes.

"I ONLY DID IT BECAUSE HE DID IT FIRST!" Toph sent a pillar of stone to smash the man who had landed softly next to the bison. He was in the air again. Laughing.

Finally Sokka came running onto the scene. He weakly pointed his boomerang at the Avatar, "You…" he was panting, "I'll… get… you… later." Then he collapsed.

"Aang!" Katara shouted. She tried to look angry, but she broke out into a smile. They were all so goofy.
