Set in Season 2, sometime after School Reunion

A/N: Just a little bit of fun that popped into my head. Should be suitable for shippers and anti-shippers alike.

THE DOCTOR DRIBBLES

If the King of Batronia wanted to hold a ball in their honor out of gratitude for the planet's deliverance from a hoard of electronic grasshoppers, who was Rose to protest. After all, she surmised with a self-satisfied determination, it would provide the perfect opportunity to even the field…

Just that morning the Doctor had done it again. They'd tracked down the central intelligence device controlling the grasshoppers (she'd found it actually), and he'd prattled on and on about how they could loop some interference and disrupt their connection. And, when Rose asked a simple question for clarification, he looked at her like she was an idiot, like she had in fact dribbled on her shirt. And, at that moment, Rose Tyler had had enough. She wasn't stupid, and she hated it when he made her feel so. Very well, she decided, it was the Doctor's turn to look the idiot, and the ball would provide the perfect opportunity.

She arrived fashionably late, having sent the Doctor ahead, and, with the assistance of a very willing doorman, timed her entrance with the utmost care. His Champaign flute was posed at his lips, mid-sip, as she entered. Red dress, no back, high slits, ample cleavage, a tasteful amount of sparkle… If she'd been in the mood to consider fairness, she'd have allowed that he'd never stood a chance.

His eyes widened when he saw her. He choked and coughed. The Champaign from his mouth flew everywhere. Ah ha, Rose thought gaily, easy victory! Then, she smiled her full and radiant smile, which, if anything, only compounded the Doctor's discomfort.

"Doctor." She greeted him nonchalantly.

"Rose," he sputtered stupidly, "You look…you look…"

Rose took his arm and pointed playfully to the mess he'd made of his suit front, and said, "Oi, Doctor, it looks like you might have dribbled a bit just there."

The Doctor looked down and seeing the state of his shirt began to laugh, and Rose, who couldn't help herself, laughed with him. "Well, come on then," she continued. "Let's see if you can remember how to dance."
