She dropped out of Yale and she moved in with my parents, who I went to for help, and they stabbed me in the back. Everything we worked for. All these years. Her whole future. She was supposed to have more than me. She was supposed to have everything. That was the plan. We had a plan,Lorelai said sadly.
Okay, I'm sorry. I have to jump in here. Uh, I know you think you have this thing handled, but I can help. First off, we call Yale and we tell them something like, uh, Rory had a chemical imbalance and she was mentally out of her mind when she told them she was dropping out. And then we get her out of your parents house whatever way we can. We lock her up in her room with you, because you can talk anybody into anything. And if worse comes to worst, we will drive her to school every day and we will follow her to class and camp out there to make sure she goes. I'll take morning classes, you take afternoon classes, or the other way around, if it works out better for your schedule. And I know there's a few kinks to work out, the kidnapping thing might be a little problematic but either way, she is not quitting school. This was her dream. I am not going to let this happen,Luke said passionately.
Through all of this
Lorelai listened thinking to herself, with a dazed expression on her
face as she listened to Luke crazy, and out of character plan.'This
is it, Luke
is it.Why hadn't I noticed
it before? It was always right in front of me and everyone
realized, well everyone except me.Sookie, Miss Patty, Babbet, Rory,
Jess, even Kirk and her mother! Her mother, of all people, who never
knew anything about
her, saw it before she did it.I now know what an epiphany felt like,
like you've been hit with a Mac truck, or when you see your life
flashes before your eyes right before your thrown into oncoming
traffic, a suddenly it's so damn clear.He's
the one, he was the one all along.Luke was the one!! He'd always been
there for them, he was everything she described as "the whole
package," loving, understanding,comforting,and safe, he'd always
been that way. And suddenly you see a Mac truck heading straight for
you, your thrown into oncoming traffic, you hear all the voices of
everyone who'd always told you Luke was the right one for you, the
one, and you can't take it, the pressure of
it all is building into anxiousness, into angst and you can't help
blurt out straight from your heart.'
"Luke, will you marry me?"
