Hey everybody! I was challenged the other day to write a mini-songfic with the first song that came on my iPod. As it turns out, the song was the Glee version of Baby, It's Cold Outside, which was kind of perfect for several reasons. One, it's sung by two gay guys, which is exactly what we have here. And two, it's December 3rd, so the song is totally in season. This is my first ever songfic, and I tried really hard to make it different from the songfics that I've read, because they tend to just take lyrics and put them in quotation marks for the characters to say. Hopefully this doesn't completely suck. Enjoy!
"I should really go."
Phil looked away the fire, his eyes landing on a concerned-looking John.
"Do you have to?" he asked, barely suppressing a pout.
"It's getting really bad out there," the younger informed, his eyes on the thickly falling snow. "And my family is waiting for me to come home."
Phil rose from the couch, crossing the living room to stand beside John.
"Just a little longer," he begged, his olive eyes pleading with his lover. "I hardly get to see you."
John turned, not wanting to be swayed.
"If I stay any later, people will start getting suspicious," he argued. "Your neighbors know my car."
"Then maybe it's time we stop hiding," the older man said, sounding much more confident than he felt.
John's eyes cut to Phil's face, shocked at the suggestion.
Secrecy, after all, had been Phil's idea in the first place.
"People can't be suspicious if they know the truth," the Chicago-native added with a little shrug.
John bit his lip, imaging what that would be like.
No more hiding their love.
No more lying to their friends and families.
They could truly be together.
Phil tensed, John's extended silence making him anxious.
Had he gone too far?
"You know what? Forget I said anything. I'll grab your-"
He was cut off by a pair of very warm, very familiar lips.
"Half a drink more," John allowed, resting his forehead against Phil's with a small smile. "Just a half a drink more."
