Amnesia
She sat there on the floor of the shrine, staring at a pink ceramic vase, continuously freezing it and thawing it in regular two-second intervals, while the people who brought her here bickered in the adjacent room. She had no idea where she was, or why she was there. In fact, prior to being carried too fast to see anything from some place, and being brought here by a dark yet familiar figure, she couldn't remember much of anything, not even her own name. All she could figure out so far was that if she concentrated enough, she could freeze objects. Considering all this, it was no wonder she tried to listen in to the conversation in the other room to see if they knew anything about her (after all, in her position, who wouldn't?)
"Dammit, Hiei! What the hell did you do?!" a man's voice resounded through the shrine.
"Yeah, yeah, I know I overdid it a little," a softer, yet somewhat sinister-sounding voice had replied.
"A little?! She can't even remember her own name!!" a louder, more rough voice joined in. "Isn't there some way you can fix this, you little shrimp?!"
"No can do – once I erase someone's memory, I can't put it back," the one seemingly known as Hiei rejoined.
"Then what the hell should we do?!" started the first voice.
"We might have to resort to the more arduous method," a soft voice joined in.
"You mean…just tell her every last thing she forgot?!"
"Well, as much of them as we can, anyway. Most likely, we won't have to tell her everything – just enough to help her remember the rest of it."
"Well then, what are we waiting for? Where should we start?"
"It'd probably be best if we started with her name."
"Alright."
The girl watched as four teenage-looking boys walked through the doorway connecting the two rooms. The first one to walk in had short, black hair with the bangs slicked back, and was wearing a white T-shirt and jeans torn at one of the knees. The second one to walk in had orange, curly hair shaped somewhat like a small pompadour, and wore a blue, buttoned-up jacket and blue pants – a school uniform. The third one, the one known as Hiei, was the shortest one – about the same height as the girl, actually – and mostly wore black – black dress-like cloak with a white scarf around his neck, black dress-like shoes, etc., even his hair was black with a little white stripe making a zig-zagging arc over his bangs, which was the only part of his hair that didn't stick up. The fourth one looked rather feminine, with long, red fluffy hair, and a pink school uniform.
The red-haired one approached the girl slowly, and sat down in front of her. "Who are you?" she asked him.
"First, you don't remember your own name, do you?" he said back. She shook her head in response.
"Well then, we should probably start with that. Your name is Yukina." Yukina. It had sounded familiar to her. She decided to accept it as her identity for now.
